When will the app be available?
Mboa Trajet is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play. Leave your number or email on the waitlist and we will let you know as soon as you can download it.
Which cities does Mboa Trajet cover?
The first cities will be announced at launch. Tell us your city when you join the waitlist: it helps us decide where to open next.
Do I need a bank card to sign up?
No. You sign up with your phone number and a code sent by SMS. Then you pay in cash or with Mobile Money.
Is the app available in English?
Yes. The rider and driver apps are in English and French; you can switch language from your profile.
Booking a ride
How is the price calculated?
The price depends on the trip and the vehicle you choose. It is shown before you confirm, so you know what you will pay before you get in.
How do I pay?
In cash to the driver, or with Mobile Money (MTN Mobile Money, Orange Money) in the app. Family abroad can also pay for your rides with a family credit topped up by card.
The driver can’t find the address. What should I do?
Add a landmark to your pickup (“opposite the petrol station”, “blue gate”): the driver sees it. You can also message or call the driver from the app without sharing your number.
Can I book for someone else?
Yes. Enter their name and number: they get the driver’s name, the car, the safety code and a tracking link by SMS. Their number is never shown to the driver.
Can I cancel?
Yes, from the app. A fee may apply if the driver has already been on the way for a while; it is shown before you confirm the cancellation. If the driver is late on the promised time, cancelling is free.
Safety
How are drivers checked?
Before their first trip, every driver sends their ID, driving licence, vehicle registration, insurance, a vehicle photo and a selfie, which our team checks. After that, check-in selfies are requested at unpredictable times.
What is the safety code for?
You give it to the driver when you get in. The trip can only start with the right code, so you know you are in the right car.
What happens if something goes wrong during a trip?
The SOS button alerts our team and your trusted contacts. If the car stops for a long time or moves away from your destination, the app asks “Are you OK?”; if you don’t answer, our team is alerted.
Drivers
What do I need to become a driver?
A smartphone, a driving licence, your ID and, for your vehicle, the registration, insurance and a photo. Depending on regulations, a certificate of capacity may be required. Everything is sent from the driver app.
I don’t own a vehicle. Can I still drive?
Yes, if a fleet owner assigns you a vehicle. Fleet owners manage their vehicles and drivers from a dedicated portal.
How do I get paid?
Cash trips are paid to you directly. Mobile Money trips, tips and bonuses go to your in-app wallet, which you withdraw to your Mobile Money account.
Can I choose my hours?
Yes. Go online when you want and offline when you are done. Nobody sets your hours.
