Between the economic capital and the political capital, this is one of the busiest trips in the country. You can go by the N3 national road, by train or by plane. Here is what each option involves, with a source for every figure.
By road: 3 to 4 hours, sometimes much longer
The trip normally takes 3 to 4 hours for 240 km. In September 2026, the state of the road, emergency works between Sikoum and Yassa and the queue at the Edéa toll stretched some journeys to 7 hours, according to Cameroon Tribune. Leave early and allow extra time.

By coach with travel agencies
Many agencies link the two cities by standard or VIP coach, from their own bus stations. Fares vary by agency and class: ask at the counter.
For intercity transport, a reference price of 16 FCFA per kilometre was announced in February 2024, pending an order from the Prime Minister.
By plane
The flight takes about 45 minutes, but add the journey to the airports: Nsimalen is 27 km from Yaoundé. Check available flights with the airlines.
By carpool with Kamergo
Kamergo’s city-to-city carpool connects travellers with drivers whose identity, vehicle and papers have been checked by our team. The price per seat is capped at cost-sharing, paid by Mobile Money, and you board with a 4-digit code.
